Shatta Wale Did Not Have A Gun – Father

Charles Mensah, the father of 2019 VGMA Highlife Artiste of the Year Shatta Wale, has stated emphatically that his son did not have a gun at last Saturday’s event.

“Shatta [Wale] didn’t have a gun yesterday,” Mr Mensah told TV3 on Sunday at the Tesano Police Station, where the self-acclaimed dancehall king is being questioned for on-stage disturbances during the awards event.

“I never saw any of his boys holding a gun or wielding one,” Shatta Wale’s father insisted.

He said it is unfair for the police to detain his son alongside 2019 VGMA Dancehall Artiste of the Year Stonebwoy, who was seen in videos wielding a gun. He has since apologised for his action on stage. But Shatta Wale’s father says they will take the matter up with their lawyers if they do not get out of “this mess”. “What other good job [did the police do] apart from the statement that we wrote.

“We don’t even know what charges they are going to prefer against us.”

All these are in relation to a scuffle between followers of Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy that brought to an abrupt end the 2019 VGMAs.
