VGMA Saga: Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale Granted Bail

Reggae Dancehall Artistes, Stonebwoy born Livingstone Este Satekla and Charles Nii Armah, popularly known as Shatta Wale have been granted police inquiry bail and will be arraigned before court 'in due time', following chaotic scenes that occured during the 20th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).

The two were arrested on Sunday after camps of both artistes clashed on stage when Stonebwoy was announced as the winner for the Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year category.

In the midst of the ensuing melee, Stonebwoy pulled out a gun; an action he has explained in a press statement as self-defence.

According to a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Accra Police command, DSP Efia Tenge on Monday, “the two together with one other suspect, Nii Amoo, who was seen discharging pepper spray in the auditorium were all arrested yesterday 19th May 2019, placed in lawful custody and have been granted bail to be arraigned before court in due time".
