Light Foundation Supports Deprived Communities With Ramadan Food

The Light Foundation, an Accra based Islamic non-governmental foundation has supported some Muslim rural communities with food items to enable them go through the Ramadan period successfully.

The foundation this year supported four rural based communities under its Ramadan food package project in the Northern region of Ghana. The beneficiary communities included Balshei, Janna, Nangbagu Yepala and Nangbagu Yekura all based in the Tamale Metropolis and Sagnerigu Municipality.

The Ramadan Food Package to hundreds of poor Muslims across the four communities included bags of rice, cooking oil, sugar, flour, salt and other assorted items.

The beneficiaries also received copies of the Holy Quran to enable them gain deeper understanding of Islam.

The C.E.O of the Light Foundation, Sheikh Ali Napari speaking to the media thanked the benevolent Muslim Community in the UK who sponsored this year’s version of the Ramadan Food Package. He added that the sponsors are driven by the Islamic teachings of benevolence and sharing with the less-privileged in society as was done by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).  The C.E.O of the Light Foundation presenting the items to the beneficiaries stated that about GHC 20,000 has been spent on this year’s package. He underscored the need for Muslims to cultivate the habit of sharing, no matter how little they have with their neighbours, this is the way of the Holy Prophet and Islam. Sheikh Ali, also thanked the communities for receiving them warmly in the spirit of Islam.  

The beneficiaries across the four communities expressed their gratitude to The Light Foundation for the food items and the Qurans given them. They stated that this will go a long way to help them observe their fasting properly and Worship Almighty Allah with a peaceful mind. They also prayed for the sponsors of the package and The Light Foundation for giving back to them in the Holy month of Ramadan.
