THE LATE Clement Kubindiwor Tedam, chairman of the Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), yesterday began his final journey to his maker.
CK Tedam, who died on April 26, 2019, aged 93, was a founding member of the party who epitomised the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition which gave birth to the NPP.
The crème de la crème of the NPP and government were at the pre-burial mass held for him at the Martyrs of Uganda Roman Catholic Church at Mamprobi in Accra.
Notable among them was President Akufo-Addo who considered CK as a great pillar of the party.
He was accompanied by his wife Rebecca, together with the Chief of Staff, Frema Osei-Opare, Speaker of Parliament, Prof Aaron Mike Oquaye and other government officials.
Also present were Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta; Transport Minister, Kwaku Ofori Asiamah; Roads Minister, Kwasi Amoako-Atta and his Deputy, Anthony Karbo; MP Ken Agyepong; Trade Minister, Alan Kyerematen; Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery; Foreign Affairs Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey; Agric Minister, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto and others.
In attendance also was Accra Mayor, Nii Adjei Sowah; Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Coastal Development Authority, Jerry Ahmed Shaib; National Coordinator for Premix Fuel, Nii Lante Bannerman; Coordinator for the National Youth Authority (NYA), and Emmanuel Asigri.
Party Chairman, Freddy Blay, also led a team of key NPP members including General Secretary, John Boadu; National Organiser, Sammi Awuku; National Youth Organiser, Nana Boakye; Nasara Coordinator, Aziz Futa; Treasurer, Abankwa Yeboah; Member of Council State, Stanley Adjiri-Blankson; Dr Kwame Addo Kufuor and Papa Owusu-Ankomah.
The mass was presided over by the Catholic Bishop of Accra, Most Reverend John Bonaventure Kwofie, while Reverend Father Theodore Quaye gave the sermon. He stressed the need for all to emulate the good example of the late CK Tedam.
