It is only the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that sees Ghana negatively. Of course, they do this in the media because what they present as propaganda stands apart from what is the truth.
The former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) said it all when he presented a scorecard of the country last week.
The past few weeks have been awash with a high-pitched cacophony from the opposition party. It has been a coordinated propaganda choreographed to present the New Patriotic Party (NPP), especially the President, as intolerant in a country experiencing anything but economic growth.
With the so-called story of kidnapping enveloping the country, according to them, not strong enough to push their agenda, they turned to the former CBN Governor to come deliver a lecture during a forum to commemorate the anniversary of the former Vice-President of the country.
Economists worth their salt and conscious of the importance of figures do not incline towards mendacious remarks. It is a fact as Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia once said that if you do propaganda with economics, the figures would eventually expose you. This, of course, guided the guest who presented it as it is much to the chagrin of his hosts.
The figures are encouraging considering what the story was when President Akufo-Addo took over the reins of administration even if the NDC thinks otherwise.
Fiscal discipline – the cornerstone of the administration – is a factor which has played a major role in the positive picture which the visiting Nigerian banker flaunted in front of his hosts and indeed the world.
Describing the greatness of Ghana today as he juxtaposed the developments so far with the giant of Africa’s was the best he could do under the circumstances.
Many days have elapsed since the banker returned to Nigeria and no opposition economist or banker on the other side of the aisle has punctured his submissions.
The glittering light at the end of the tunnel says a lot about the quality of treatment the economy has received since the change of political baton a few years ago.
With no legs to stand on in matters about the economy, the realities too glaring to be marginalized, the NDC has jumped onto the human rights plane.
Holding on to any piece of nonsense for the prosecution of their propaganda is not doing any good to the opposition NDC’s project.
NDC leading a crusade against so-called human rights abuses sounds rich: this is a political party founded on human rights abuses; their murders of Ghanaians who were not tried is unrivalled in the history of this country.
Cybercrime will remain a crime in this country as it is elsewhere in the civilized world and suspects will be arraigned for adjudication as the law demands.
