Parliament To Tighten Security Measures During Proceedings

Parliament henceforth will tighten its security measures at the chamber to ensure the safety of its members and proceedings – this has become necessary after last week’s incident that disrupted proceedings.

Convenor of the Economic Fighters League, Ernesto Yeboah and two others stormed the August House to protest against plans to construct a new Parliament complex.

This follows a breach in security in the Chamber of Parliament when the three in the middle of deliberations in the House begun shouting ‘drop that chamber’ attracting the attention of MPs.

They were subsequently arrested by officers of the parliamentary security unit.

Acting Director of Public Affairs of Parliament, Kate Addo in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’ noted that new ‘strict’ security measures will be announced soon for 'strangers' who visit the chamber.
