There have been some doubts and cynicism amongst some Ghanaians concerning the veracity of rapper Sarkodie�s record deal with Konvict Africa.
And if the February 7 official oudooring of Sarkodie onto the Konvict brand was not believable enough, then surely Akon�s video message to Ghanaians on YouTube would clear any such doubts. In the video, the Senegalese R&B/Pop sensation confirmed signing the fastest rapper in Ghana.
Akon, who appears in the video with BABS, a US-Based Ghanaian showbiz entrepreneur and President of Konvict Africa, starts his message with an apology for not being able to attend the official outdooring of Sarkodie in Ghana, and goes ahead to send his greetings to Sarkodie� �Big shouts to my man Sarkodie, I know you are doing your big things over there. �
According to Akon, Konvict Africa is going to integrate fashion, music and more into Africa�s entertainment industry just like the Konvict brands exist in the United States. He added that Konvict Africa is going to be a big movement and he called on Ghanaians and Africans to support the dreams of Konvict Africa. � Our doors and arms are wide open. It�s a big thing right now Ghana, we�re gonna do it extremely heavy� he said.
The administrator of the Konvict Africa account on YouTube left the following message to describe the video: �For the first time, BABS has to get Akon to send out a message such as this to the unbelieving few who are confusing the masses. Konvict Africa is here to empower and be a role model for the youth of Africa. The entertainment business is different from football business.
The reason football business discloses contract details/dollar value, is to be able to sell tickets to their games. The entertainment business is different. Konvict Africa will invest in its artists, develop them, and build the right distribution channels to ensure they have a successful career.
