Landlady convicted for whipping tenant

A Cape Coast landlady, Grace Dadzie, who whipped her tenant for daring to question her was on Thursday convicted for assault but remanded into prison custody by the Cape Coast Metropolitan Circuit Court. Mrs Florence Kai Otu the presiding judge, deferred sentence to Tuesday February 23, 2010. Prosecuting, police Inspector Daniel Baidoo told the court that the convict was a land lady while the complainant, Miss Deborah Conduah, was a tenant in a house at Pedu, but that the two were not on speaking terms. He said on February 5, 2010 the convict closed the door leading to the main entrance of the house to prevent mosquitoes from entering the rooms. Inspector Baidoo said Miss Conduah asked the convict why she closed the door and this infuriated her so much that she rained insults and later whipped the complainant with a cane for daring to question her action. The complainant then reported the accused to the police who went on to arrest Grace.
