So Did You Know The Story Behind Popular "Ghana Must Go" Sack Bag?

Even If You Were Told I Bet It Was Just The Tip

There's a political rivalry between Ghana and Nigeria from the year 1969 till date but these 21st century people never knew so it's normal now, In the year 1969, Ghana's economy experienced growth, which had other people from the neighboring countries come to seek for greener pastures.

Major of the immigrants were from Nigeria and they really worked hard which the had majority of businesses in some parts of the national capital, Accra. Things went sour at a point and economic hardship begun.

Many politicians blamed the immigrants which they used for their campaigns to sack all immigrants in the country if the come to power.

The lame citizens voted for them and they did as said.

In the late 1970s, Nigeria discovered oil in their country which made the the wealthiest country in Africa at the time. In 1983, Ghana experienced economic hardship with famine.

Many business agents from Nigeria came to Ghana to recruit people to go do the minor works in Nigeria because the citizens there were not interested because they were making much money from the oil.In about a period of 3 to 5yrs, Nigeria had received 2 million immigrants of which more than half were Ghanains.

The price of fuel dropped on the international market which almost collapsed businesses in the country.

Things became bad and politicians started blaming the Ghanains of taking of the works in the country.

Many politicians assured that if they sack the immigrants things were going to be better only if the were voted.

The Nigerians voted for the president at the time and he gave the immigrants less than a month to flee else you'd be beaten and sent to jail.

These Ghanains didn't really know how to get their belongings from Nigeria to Ghana and the only option the had was the Ghana must go which was very spacious and strong.

It could hold as many things. On the said day they left, the president of Ghana at the time Ex president Jerry John Rawlings, ordered that the boarder of Togo be closed till further notice, reason being, he's tryna prevent some terrorists from entering the country.

So the boarder of Togo really go "chocked" which caused famine and sickness among the victims.

So charity organizations from other countries came to their aid, brought food and treatments until the the boarder was eventually opened.

Many people lost their loved ones and it's the"Ghana Must Go" which brings memories of the sad incident that happened back in Nigeria and on the boarder.

They never brought good memories.

NB: Both Ghana and Nigeria, no leader has never apologized for this incident.

Currently there are about 2 million Nigerians in Ghana and 70,000 Ghanains in Nigeria. Fun fact about African political history:
