It has been barely six months when Miss Ghana 2009 was held under the tutelage of Media Whizz Kids after it took back its franchise from Sparrow Production who organized the event for about five years.
The winner of the prestigious pageantry, Mimi Areme, is currently not only enjoying her realm as the reigning beauty queen but is also leaving no stone unturned on her project on child trafficking.
Working in collaboration with International Organization for Migration (IOM), she has so far traveled to Kete-Krachie in the Volta Region where child labour cases are high. Unlike previous occasions when some beauty queens had problems with their prize cars and had to ride in taxis, Mimi has not faced taxi saga.
Currently, she has been going about her activities in her brand new Tata Safari 4X4 car from PHC Motors. The twenty-year-old HND Marketing student of the Sunyani Polytechnic told NEWS-ONE on Monday that the car, which is hers for life, has even been registered in her name.
The car comes with a one-year servicing warranty from PHC Motors, plus 10 gallons of fuel per week for one year, alongside some prizes that are due her.
It is on record that Miss Ghana 2007, Frances Takyie Mensah, during her tenure, was spotted a number of times using a taxi cab in going about her project work. This followed reports that her prize had been taken away from her.
However, such issues were not heard about Miss Ghana 2008, Mawuse Apea, as matters concerning her prizes have been kept out of media spotlight.
