"Sad Mistake If We Bend The Rules Simply Because Of Investors"-- Prez Mills

President John Evans Atta Mills says Ghanaians will be making a sad mistake if they ask government to bend the rules of due diligence regarding international negotiations simply because the country strongly yearns for investors. Delivering his state of the Nation Address to Parliament this morning, President Mills expressed pleasure at the fact that NDC members can even hit hard at their own government and described criticism as serious alternative views to be respected for consideration. He touted Ghanas democratic credentials as a shining example to other African countries, and also talked of his desire to make well-guided decisions. Madam Speaker, Im even more pleased that NDC Members feel just as free to criticize their govtWe take honest criticism in good faithIn all our undertakings, Ill be guided by theseIll strive to make the right decisions than to make quick decisions, he stated. As required by Article 67 of the 1992 constitution the president at the beginning of each Session of Parliament and before dissolution of Parliament must deliver to the House a message on the State of the Nation. Todays address was therefore in conformity with the provisions of the constitution. It was the second time the president addressed the house under 67 of the constitution since taking office on January 7, 2009.
