Don’t Drag Otumfuo Into Your 'Petty' Politicking – NDC Told

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) seems to have courted controversy after responding to a comment made by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The Otumfuo while speaking at a UN summit indicated that he persuaded former President John Mahama to concede defeat in the 2016 elections.

The NDC, however, disagreed because according to them Ex-President John Mahama accepted defeat on his own.

A statement signed by then Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah in the erstwhile Mahama administration said the former President conceded defeat even before the EC declared results. Click to read.

However, Kamal Deen feels the statement was not necessary and that "sometimes silence is golden".

"The statement from Julius Debrah was not important, when you do this and try to reduce the moral authority of our Chiefs, it is worrying because his statement refutes what Otumfuo said. Sometimes silence is golden . . . are you telling the whole world that they should disregard Asantehene’s statement? I think it is dangerous for us . . . this thing is in the past; 2016, we should move forward. What was the need for the press release? We should respect our chieftaincy institution; we shouldn’t draw them into our petty politicking," he urged while speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' programme.
