Dead Tadi Girls: I Doubt DNA Results – Professor Akosa

Celebrated Pathologist and former Director-General of the Ghana Health Service (GHA), Professor Agyemang Badu Akosa has expressed doubt over the DNA test results confirming the death of the four missing Takoradi girls.

In an interview with Citi FM on Tuesday, September 17, 2019, he argued that there were so many disjointed things that make him doubt the results, calling for the results to be subjected to a more experienced opinion.

The renowned pathologist said that the circumstances of the kidnapping of the girls (the fact that they were kidnapped from different locations at different times) and the fact that the human remains were all found in a septic tank do not make him doubt the results. He notes that somehow police intelligence should have picked up some information on the kidnapping in some form.

He avers further that the forensic laboratory in Ghana was set up not too long ago and since experience counts in forensic science, a second opinion should be sought.

“We must subject the forensic evidence presented in the kidnapped girls’ saga to a second opinion,” he told Bernard Avle of the Citi Breakfast Show.

The police on Monday announced that human remains it had found from a septic earlier this year were those of the four missing Takoradi girls after DNA analysis. But many have doubted the results including the families of the girls and many other individuals.
