The trial of 27-year-old New Patriotic Party (NPP) sympathizer, Nana Darkwah, which was scheduled to be heard today, was rocked by pandemonium as irate members of a group claiming to be supporters of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), nearly lynched the NPP radio commentator as he walked out of the Cocoa Affairs Court. But the case itself could not be heard today and was adjourned to 15 March 2010, because the prosecutor was absent. Nana Darkwah has been charged with spreading fear and alarm and his lawyers this morning sought to get the charges against their client dropped. He was arrested and incarcerated for alleging that former President Rawlings set fire to his Ridge residence. Although his arrest was highly criticized by some with the Minority in Parliament even boycotting proceedings to protest his detention, pressure group, the Committee for Joint Action (CJA), widely condemned his comments as irresponsible. The enraged supporters who had thronged the circuit court expressed their displeasure at the kingly treatment being given Nana Dankwah by the opposition NPP, with the Minority bearing the brunt of their anger. ��.I swear,�We are going to match them boot for boot,�Wahala�If the Minority Leader and his group support this irresponsible statement�he�s an irresponsible leader�,� they screamed in anger. Speaking in an interview on PEACEFM News, Mike Ocquaye Jnr. one of the counsel for the NPP radio commentator explained that though the prosecutor was not present, an NDC activist, who is also a lawyer, David Annan, attempted addressing the judge. �I stopped him since he did not work for the A-G�s office, and moreover he was only there as a �brief watcher�, he added. He cautioned the NDC supporters who tried to assault his client at the court�s premises, to exercise restraint and not attempt to take the law into their own hands.
