Konadu Calls For Prosecution Of Corrupt NPP Officials

Former first lady and a Vice Chair of the ruling NDC, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings has called on the Atta Mills led administration to act fast in prosecuting members of the past NPP administration who she says have committed various acts of financial malfeasance. She made the comment when she spoke on behalf of members of the various sub committees of the party who were sworn into office on Wednesday, March 3. The members who were sworn in by President Mills are to superintend over the activities of the NDC and also take charge of some aspects of the partys operations vis--vis the government. The 7 committees and established directorates of the NDC include a Communication Committee, headed by Dr Ekow Spio Gabrah, and a Political Committee Chaired by Professor John Mills. According to Nana Konadu, the swearing into office of the various committees marks a milestone in the history of the NDC. She indicated that it is the expectation that the committees will work hard to ensure that the NDC lives up to its campaign promises. One of such promises is the prosecution of corrupt NPP officials which she says would bring justice to many Ghanaians who think they were short-changed by the outgone NPP administration. Nana Konadu and her husband, former President Jerry Rawlings have been strong critics of the Atta Mills led administration calling it a slow government. Nana Konadu in accepting the mandate given them by the NDC minced no words when she indicated that the various committees must help government and party meet its obligations. The urgent actions that we expect the party, the government and the NDC MPs to work more closely to take include: actions to improve the living conditions of Ghanaians, actions to reduce the cost of living for Ghanaians, actions to create jobs for many people who are unemployed, actions to review various fraudulent acts committed during the 2008 elections, actions to bring to book NPP functionaries who have committed various acts of malfeasance so justice can indeed be done and actions to protect the NDC against many serious attacks against our political opponents and a small section of the media. She submitted.
