Sack Rojo Mettle Nunoo - Minority Demands

There are strong indications that the Minority group in Parliament could push for the removal of Rojo Mettle Nunoo as Deputy Minister of Health if it is proven that he misled Parliament, while answering questions about the National Health Insurance Scheme on Wednesday, March 3. Mr. Mettle Nunoo told Parliament on Wednesday that if the Mills administration were to start implementation of its one time premium policy new subscribers who sign onto to the National Health Insurance Scheme could be asked to pay as much as 678 new Ghana cedis (GH678). The substantive Minister for Health, Hon Benjamin Kumbour, has since distanced himself and government from the figures in various radio interviews, saying his Deputy clearly misled the nations legislature during the sitting. Hon Kumbour has also served notice that government would take immediate steps to apologize to the law-making House for his deputys conduct. But, some Minority MPs told Citi News that if the Ministers claim is anything to go by, then Rojo Mettle Nunoo may have to be kicked out of government. Speaking exclusively to Citi News, Minority Chief Whip, Hon Fred Opare Ansah, agreed, saying Mr. Mettle Nunoo should prepare to face a vote of censure in Parliament if it is indeed proven that he misled the House. I dont know whether he is just being a sacrificial lamb in this instance but clearly if he came to parliament purposely to mislead us by bringing this document...which the deputy minister came to the chamber and virtually threw it into our faces, we want to believe that the deputy was speaking the truth but if he was not speaking the truth and was misleading us then it is a serious problemand appropriate sanctions must apply Hon. Opare Ansah said. However, Second Deputy Majority Chief Whip, Hon Kuntu Blankson has told Citi News that calls for the Deputy Ministers removal is not only unfounded but unfair. Rojo can never come here without the advice of figures provided by the technocrats in the office so if there are any inconsistencies, then the technocrats and the ministry should be held liable toogovernment is not an island its a teamworkso what Rojo was supplied is what he took in thereso I dont support the assertion that the man must be fired.
