The Minister of Health Dr. Benjamin Kumbuor has said there is no clinical evidence that some people have died through the cerebrospinal Meningitis (CSM) disease in the Ashanti Region. The Minister said this in parliament when he answered a question on measures being taken by the ministry of health to prevent the perennial deaths caused by CSM in the three Northern Regions. According to the minister, the ministry of health is embarking on vaccination of people, surveillance for early detection of cases, effective management of cases and public education to control the disease. Dr. Kumbuor said there has not been shortage of CSM drugs since the outbreak of the disease. The Minister explained that there is a direct link between CSM and the ecological, climatic and vegetation conditions in the three Northern Regions.
