Messi Is Better Than Ronaldo - Uruguayan Legend Enzo Francescoli

Goal.com Spain's Joaquin Cavanna was on hand in Madrid to pose a host of excellent questions to legendary Uruguayan footballer Enzo Francescoli in presentation for CracksTV, a reality show that will travel the world in search of some of the next generation's footballing talent. Responding to Cavanna's questions, Francescoli revealed his thoughts on the best player in the world. "Today, Lionel Messi better than Cristiano Ronaldo. The Argentine is at the height of his ability and Ronaldo is behind. A few seasons ago, it was the reverse, the Portuguese was ahead." Asked about a favourite in La Liga, the Uruguayan declared that he does not see a clear favourite in the title race this season. "La Liga is very competitive between Real Madrid and Barcelona. If I had to bet, I would favour Barcelona. The Champions League defeat has really hit Madrid hard." Speaking about that Champions League defeat, Francescoli voiced his thoughts on Madrid's ability. "They could have progressed. The 1-0 of the first leg was dangerous and in the first half of the second leg, Madrid did not know how to kill the match." Asked about Kaka, the Uruguayan had praise for the Brazilian. "He is a spectacular player, but it is costing him a bit too much to adapt. It's a normal thing to occur. There is no other that plays in his position and he is going to be a great player for many years. Real Madrid spent well to bring him here." Commenting on the World Cup, the ex-River Plate player recognised that the "favourites to win will be the same as always" with Spain likely to take the crown. "I do not think there will be any surprises in the World Cup. One needs to take care, especially with England, a team Fabio Capello has changed quite a bit. If [Wayne] Rooney continues to play at his current level, he could be very important for England." Finally, the Uruguayan commented on how he saw his own national team. "I hope our match-changing players are in form like Forlan, Suarez and Lugano. Further, it would be great if the team could show some consistent form in such an important tournament. It is very difficult to be champions, but Uruguay can show that they can play some very good football."
