Abdulai Sumaila In Police Grips

The Northern Regional Police Command has arrested Abdulai Sumaila, a 26-year-old magician, in Tamale, for allegedly defrauding a resident, Franklin Akatsa of GH7,000, a digital camera and a laptop computer, all valued at GH8,680.00. Chief Inspector Ebenezer Tetteh, Public Relations Officer of the Command, told GNA on Monday that last month, the complainant, a 25 year-old Seaman from Hlefi, in the Volta Region, was introduced to Sumaila in the township, to give him spiritual powers so that his business could flourish, by a friend. Chief Insp. Tetteh said Sumaila convinced Akatsa that he could give him powers that could fortify him and make his business flourish and also double his money. Akatsa gave Sumaila GH7,000, a laptop and a digital camera and the magician gave Akatsa a bag containing powers. Chief Insp. Tetteh said Sumaila instructed Akatsa to open the bag after one week. The complainant complied with the instruction but found nim tree leaves, a talisman, pieces of white calico and bundles of papers in form of Ghana currency in the bag. Chief Inspector Tetteh said Sumaila, who was arrested at Bamvi, a suburb of Tamale, was being processed for court. Chief Inspector Tetteh cautioned the public to be wary of persons, who claim to possess powers that could make people rich overnight.
