Nana Akufo Addo Is In A Campaign Mood - Okudzeto Ablakwa

A Deputy Minister of Information, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has responded to Nana Akuffo Addos assertions that the NDC is a total failure. According to him Nana Addo is in a campaign mood and has hit the ground running preparing himself well for elections in 2012. Well if you listen to him he is in a very good campaign mood and it is clear that Nana Addo has hit the ground running and he doesnt want to miss out on the flagbearership contest. He is in a campaign mood but we in the government have to be in a different mood we have to keep our eye on the ground and deliver on our promises. Ablakwa said. Nana Akuffo Addo addressing a crowd at the Odododiodio constituency on Wednesday March 17, described the ruling NDC government as a total failure. He said the Mills led administration has been very disappointing in its performance since it assumed office over a year ago citing the hike in prices of goods on the market as ample testimony of the failure of the NDC government. But Okudzeto Ablakwa, in an interview on Citi FM said that Nana Addo was only trying to express his opinion which is his constitutional right. He said that the NDC government despite the harsh challenges that it is encountering, has been able to chalk considerable successes in terms of stabilizing the economy and has also created more jobs for the people of Ghana. If he is talking about the economy, the indices point to the fact we have improved the economy than what it was when we came to poweras we speak, over the last couple of months the cedi has stabilized, it has even appreciated against all the major currencies, so if you go to realms of macro economic statistics you can indeed point to some successes, you can not say that these indices are a smack of failure. Ablakwa added that the NDC is doing everything possiblel to transform the economy and they are focused to satisfying the demands of the people of Ghana. He added that President Mills has created more than a million jobs since he assumed office over a year ago. The Deputy Information Minister said that the people of Ghana will be able to assess and judge their performance after the NDCs first term in office ends. We are very focused on the ball, we know that there are challenges we need to addressso far president Mills has created not less than 1.5 million jobs, if you look at our youth in economic programme we have generated 47,000 jobs, in the road sector we have created not less that 1.2 million jobs so we need to continue in a very focused manner, be sincere with the people of this country, appreciating their difficulties and assuring them that by the end of our four year mandatethey will give us an above average that indeed we have fulfilled the promises that we made to them. He added.
