Barclays Global Retail Banking CEO Visits Ghana

Mr. Antony Jenkins, Chief Executive Officer of Barclays Global Retail Banking (GRB), arrived in Ghana yesterday to pay a courtesy call on President Evans John Attah Mills at the Castle-Osu, as well as meeting with the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Mr. Kwesi - Amissah Arthur. The Barclay executive will also hold strategic meetings with the Board of Directors and Country Management Committee of Barclays Ghana, visit Accra branches, and meet with Barclays colleagues and customers. This is Mr. Jenkins' first visit to Ghana since he was appointed Chief Executive of Global Retail Banking and joined the Barclays Executive Committee in November 2009. Prior to his appointment, he was the Chief Executive Officer of Barclaycard from January 2006. Antony Jenkins said: �Barclays is proud of the relationships that it has developed and maintained in Ghana and I am pleased to witness, support and encourage the growth of the Ghana business community. �Barclays is committed to making lives easier for the communities we serve with our products and services, and we are excited to be a part of the overall progress of retail banking in Africa.� Mr. Jenkins, in addition to his Global Retail Banking role, is responsible for Diversity and Inclusion at Barclays. In February 2009, he was appointed non-executive director of Absa, the South African banking group, and also serves on the Board of Visa Europe Ltd.
