Metro Mass Kills Deaconess

A DEACONESS at the Cape Coast Church of Pentecost, Sophia Apau, on Friday met her untimely death when she was overrun by a metro mass bus around 7:30pm at Edumfa near Abura Dunkwa in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese District of the Central Region. The deaconess, 55, was going to a women�s fellowship meeting at Edumfa on that fateful day when she was killed on the spot by the bus with registration number AS 1016-10, which was travelling from Kumasi to Takoradi. The driver of the bus, Robert Nyarko, 62, who is also an ex-serviceman, has been remanded into prison custody to re-appear today, May 16, 2011, while the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Central Regional hospital for autopsy. Briefing DAILY GUIDE, the Abura Dunkwa Police Commander, ASP Twum Barima stated that the deceased�s intestines were scattered on the road when the accident happened. According to him, the Abura Dunkwa police collected the scattered parts of the deceased�s body and placed them in a polythene bag before it was deposited at the morgue. ASP Twum Barima stressed the need for drivers using the road to be careful in order not to kill innocent people. He advised drivers to slow down when approaching towns and villages as well as when approaching curves to prevent avoidable accidents. He disclosed that the docket would be sent to the Attorney General�s office for advice. The commander appealed to drivers to stop when they are signaled by the police since they may be in danger on the road.
