COVID-19 Fight: Recovered Persons Must Publicly Share Their Experiences - Psychologist

Head of Psychology at the University of Ghana, Prof. Joseph Osafo has appealed to government to encourage COVID-19 recovered persons to share their experiences publicly.

According to him, the recovered persons' stories will help get rid of the stigma attached to COVID-19 patients.

President Nana Akufo-Addo, in his 14th nation address on COVID-19, advised Ghanaians to stop stigmatizing the people who contract the disease.

Speaking to sit-in host Nana Yaw Kesseh on Peace FM's 'kokrokoo', Prof. Joseph Osafo believed one best way to extinguish the stigmatization is for government to create a support group for the infected persons.

"We should create a support group for them so they can come out to tell their stories. That approach breaks the stigma. Their experiences will be a rich source for those who are treating this disease with unseriousness," he said.
