Armed Robbers Attack KMA Boss

Reports reaching Peacefmonline.com say the Mayor of Kumasi, Samuel Sarpong, was the victim of an alleged robbery attempt at his official residence over the week-end. Hellofm, a sister station of Peacefm, first broke the news. According to aides of the KMA Boss, the attack might have been motivated by allegations that a whopping sum of GHS90 million has been budgeted for President Mills second term bid to lead the NDC into elections in 2012. The Mayor of Kumasi hinted of the attack on HelloFM while reacting to allegations by a member of the Friends Of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings (FONKAR) that he (the Mayor) had organized thugs to assault supporters of Mrs. Rawlings. Mr. Sarpong alleged that a member of FONKAR had claimed on another radio station on Friday night that he, the Mayor, was keeping GHS30 million meant to influence party delegates in the Ashanti Region. The same night, unidentified men stormed his house demanding that he surrendered the money. Though the Police say they are unaware of the reported attack, Spokesperson of the Mayor, Clement Kegeri, confirmed the incident to Sampson Nyamekye of PeaceFM.
