Editor of the �Al-Hajj� newspaper, Alhaji Bature Iddrisu says a presidential aspirant of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, is really immature and an ingrate, and has issued a veiled threat to the former National Vice-Chair of the NDC to cease running President Mills down if he knows what is good for him. �I am sad the way the NDC is treating this issue. I think his (Spio�s) behaviour is a sign of immaturity because if the President says he will make you a Foreign Affairs Minister and he did not, you don�t have to say because he didn�t give you the position, you are going to contest him. It�s very unfortunate,� he said. Speaking to Suhini Alhassan in an interview on Radio Gold, Alhaji Bature pointed that President Mills has his own inner circle of friends that he listens to, and so cannot take a decision based on his whims and caprices. ��you (Spio) cannot blame him (Mills) for the position which has not been given to you. I just don�t understand him. I don�t know if it is a sign of jealousy or envy. We will not allow him to insult the President,�Alhaji Bature said. The Chief Executive Officer of the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO) had revealed in various interviews that President Mills, just after assuming office, promised to make him (Spio) the Foreign Affairs Minister but the reneged on his word. The NDC presidential hopeful said he is not peeved by the failed promise but feels sorry for President Mills because his administration is being sabotaged by a cabal at the Presidency. �When the President of the Republic of Ghana, duly sworn in, with all the powers of that position, looks in my face and tells me �I�d like to give you this position� and somebody else should tell him that �if you give him this position, its over my dead body, we shan�t work with you,� and those people are holding his campaign funds, and therefore he feels trapped, then I feel that it�s a kind of intimidation, a kind of financial terrorism that is being applied at the presidency�" "...He (President Mills) said to me, that when I become president� Ekwow Spio-Garbrah will be the first person that I will make a minister in my government� And then he told the Ahwois and others also that if some day he is not willing or able to run as President I was the one that he would want to support. And of course they found that very unpleasant because they also had their own plans, and possibly one of them could also be the president, so since that day I�ve been a target of their anger and frustration,� Dr Spio-Garbrah said. But the outspoken former host of Radio Gold�s �Alhaji and Alhaji� programme rubbished the NDC presidential aspirant�s claims and warned in not so clear words that should he (Spio) fail to desist from maligning the President, a campaign of calumny would be launched against him. ��If he wants to contest the President, he should go on with his campaign and stop running the President down. If he does not stop that we will also run him down,� he presaged.
