On the 8th day of July, 2016, we (www.peacefmonline.com) published a news item on our website under the heading ‘Military Officer Bullies Developer Over Land’, wherein it was alleged that one Major Bamford of the Military’s Southern Command at Teshie, was “using his uniform to bully and encroach on a piece of land belonging to Richard Oppong without any supporting document”.
The news story, sourced from New Crusading Guide, followed an interview the said Oppong granted OmanFM.
Peacefmonline could not confirm the veracity of Mr Oppong’s claims and failed to contact the military officer for his side of the story before republishing same.
We have, however, now recognized that there was insufficient basis to reproduce the said report.
The Management of Peacefmonline do hereby unconditionally retract the publication made against Major Bamford, and unreservedly apologize for any harm, damage or loss suffered in consequence thereof to his person including any disaffection made towards him.
This retraction is without prejudice to the two other defendants contesting the substantive case in court.
