National Security Seizes Movies Titled Atta Mortuary Man & Oh Uncle Atta'

A Movie Producer and Director, Mr. Kofi Asamoah, fears his new movie, titled Oh Uncle Atta, may be prevented from being released onto the market by National Security operatives and elements within the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC). Mr. Asamoah told Citi News although the content of his Movie has no bearing on President John Evans Atta Mills, sometimes referred to as Uncle Atta, he believes that the title may be the purpose of National Securitys action. According to him, his fears were heightened after some persons believed to be National Security Operatives, stormed the offices of a Film Distributor and made away with all copies of a new movie that had been released by his colleague Producer. The title of the intercepted movie is Atta Mortuary Man. The name Atta Mortuary Man, became popular after the NDCs Founder and Former President Mr. Rawlings, during a speech at the NDCs Congress in Tamale in 2010, made reference to an Atta friend of his, who works in the mortuary at the 37 Military Hospital. Some persons had surmised from that reference that the Former President sought to make mockery of the sitting President Professor John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills, whom he has often criticized and described as a failure. But the young Movie Producer and Director insist his movie, Oh Uncle Atta, has nothing to do with President Atta Mills. The title of the Movie is Oh Uncle Atta. The Movie has been shot and everything has been done. CDs have been produced and the posters are out. The movie has been censored as well. But we were informed that the National Security and some officials of the NDC are saying they wont allow us to release the movie. So another Producer friend of mine who has also produced his movie called Atta Mortuary Man released his. They just went to the Distributor of the Movie which is Nyankonton Films, and they have taken stock of all the movies in his shop last night. But for mine, which is Oh Uncle Atta, the Movie is not out and now I dont even know whether I will be able to produce it. So I am surprised all this is happening in the era of democracy and freedom of speech and all that, he lamented.
