Peacefmonline.com can confirm that a ghastly road accident between a Benz bus with license number GT 1172 J and a Tipper truck with registration number AS 1708 D at Bonomanso on the Kintampo-Techiman road, has led to the death of some 27 persons.
According to Yaw Kokore Joshua, Peace FM�s correspondent at Success FM in Gaoso, 25 persons died on the spot with 2 others later.
The unfortunate incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, May 31, between 12 to 1am.
Narrating the incident on Peace FM�s Kokrokoo Morning show, Yaw Kokore said the tipper truck burst a tyre and the driver lost control of the steering wheel in the process, resulting in the truck veering off the road.
Upon realising that the tipper truck driver had lost control, the driver of the commercial Benz bus which was full of passengers including some children and students and was on its way from Techiman to Tamale, tried to make way for the truck by parking at the side of the road, only for the tipper truck to come slamming into it and crashing it beyond repairs.
The impact on the bus was so strong that all the three passengers on board the tipper truck and all the passengers on the Benz bus including the driver and the mate all perished on the spot, save some two passengers who died later at the Techiman Government Hospital.
In all there were 5 children, 16 women and 6 men in the both vehicles who lost their lives in the tragic accident.
The 5 children, two boys and 3 girls, are below the age of 10.
Nine others are said to be in very critical condition whiles the bodies of the deceased have been conveyed to the Techiman Hospital morgue.
