Thieves Raid ECG Office

Suspected thieves have for the second time in less than two months, successfully broken into the offices of the Kwabenya District of the Electricity Company of Ghana, taking away computers and system units containing vital information. A similar incident occurred at the same premises but in the cash office, where the suspects broke one of the doors of the cash office which was then located in a container situated adjacent to the ECGs newly commissioned building at the Atomic roundabout at Dome-Kwabenya and made away with a computer said to contain valuable data. This compelled management to move the cash office into the new building. There are no reports of any arrests made by the Atomic District police, who have taken the matter up for investigations. However, the recent incident which occurred Tuesday night, took place in the new office building. Asempa News learnt that, the thieves slid the glass window at the back of the building and took the gadgets away. At least five computers could not be found when the office was opened for business Wednesday morning. This is the third time the office has witnessed this incident in two years, as there are reports of same incident which happened there some two years ago, where the thieves took away the safe containing an unspecified amount of money being bills paid by customers. The police as usual have begun another investigation and hoped some arrests could be made this time round.
