June 4: FONKAR Invites Ex-President Kufuor

FORMER PRESIDENT John Agyekum Kufuor has been invited to the June 4 celebrations taking place in Kumasi tomorrow. Friends of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings (FONKAR) has extended an invitation to the former Ghanaian leader to grace the occasion. The June 4 revolution, celebrated annually, clocks 33 this year, and the celebration is taking place at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi. As usual, true National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters across the country are expected to converge on the event venue on Saturday. Extending invitation to former President Kufuor, a leading member of FONKAR, Saint Osei said, �The NPP guru is welcome to the event.� Mr. Kufuor briefly served in the erstwhile PNDC administration, led by Mr. Rawlings. Mr. Kufuor succeeded former President Rawlings as Ghana�s leader in 2000 after winning the national polls. Saint Osei said Mr. Rawlings played leading roles in ushering in the 4th Republic Constitution of Ghana. This, he said, contributed to President Kufuor winning political elections to become president. Saint Osei said on Kessben FM that FONKAR would welcome Mr. Kufuor with open arms if he showed up at the event.He said everything had been put in place to make the June 4 celebration one of the most memorable ones in recent times. Former President Rawlings has vowed to unleash missiles about President Mills� administration at this year�s June 4 celebration.
