NLA Fetes Widows In Akuapem North Municipality

The NLA Good Cause Foundation a charity arm of the National Lottery Authority in collaboration with the cares have hosted a get-together for widows within the Akuapem North Municipality to mark this year’s mother’s day celebration.

The gesture, according to the Director-General of the National Lottery Authority Sammy Awuku said that the get together was intended to put smiles on the faces of the widows who are mostly forgotten in society because they are voiceless.

He extended warm felicitation to the widows on behalf of the president as well as all the management and staff of the National Lottery Authority.

He urged them to be happy regardless of the situation and look up to God for comfort and also assured them of support in times of need. Parcels were also distributed to all the widows present.

“We at NLA use the proceeds raised from players who do not win to support widows, orphans, mentally and physically afflicted and also to support the less privileged in society as this is part of our mandate in accordance with the NLA Act 722” Sammy Awuku explained.

On her part, the Deputy Coordinator of the NLA Good Cause Foundation, Ana Frimpong in an interview with the press opined that the NLA Good Causes Foundation is intended to spearhead the authority’s corporate social responsibility as well as sustain its quest to create a shared value that bonds all stakeholders across the country.

The charity arm, which is named the ‘Good Causes Foundation’, has the objective to develop, implement and maintain an integrated action plan based on four main pillars – education, health, youth and sports development, and culture.

Nana Akosua Oye Dartey Baah, Founder of the Redeemer Cares Foundation, commended the NLA headed by Sammy Awuku for supporting them put smiles on the faces of Widows in the Akuapem North Municipality.

She further called for more support from corporate Ghana as the Foundation intends to make the celebration an annual programme and organise a similar one for widowers during Fathers Day Celebrations too.

The beneficiaries expressed their appreciation to the NLA and Redeemer Cares Foundation for remembering them and asked for God’s blessings for them in the year ahead.
