'Most of the Heads of ECG Must Be Sacked' - Nana Ofori Owusu Fumes

Nana Ofori Owusu, National Chairman of the Progressive People's Party (PPP), has called for the dismissal of the Heads of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

The ECG has announced a move to clamp down on people engaged in illegal connection of meters and to retrieve monies from their debtors.

The company has begun an operation to collect monies owed them from their customers.

The operation commenced from March 20 and will end on April 20, 2023.

The company has since the start of its operation said to have retrieved over 2 billion cedis from the debtors.

But to Nana Ofori Owusu, the management of the ECG are to blame for those electricity users owing them.

He wondered how a lot of people could owe the company if those at the helm of affairs were proactive.

"Whose responsibility is it? Most of the Heads of ECG, when you read the report, most of them should be sacked," he said on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' morning show.

He also advised the management to restructure the company to address their challenges.

"The business itself, the corporate entity, needs to restructure itself to meet the challenges it is facing today, and I haven't heard anything in that respect because you have to do internal restructuring that allows you to be able to deal with the external challenges you are facing in the world."
