Why CPP Does Not Win General Elections

The failure of the party to choose the right candidates for the Flagbearership and the National Executives are the main reasons why the party cannot win general election since the year 2000 lead by Mr. George Hagan till today. The year 2004 and 2008 shows clearly that the party flagbearership is a disease in the party and until we change these people for a new faces, CPP will likely go on opposition after 2012. Even though the 2008 CPP presidential Candidate,Dr.Paa Kwasi Nduom managed to maintain the numbers with a total vote cast 113,494 votes(represent 1.3%) as in 2004 lead by Mr. George Aggudey with 85,968 votes(represent 1.0%) yet our performance was very disappointed in the history of our political records. If political party like the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) will continue to record 1% in Presidential general election, then the party needs news faces to redeem its political image. It is very shameful to see these same peoples forming associations and movements to campaign for the same race again, come July Congress. Secondly, some National Executives lead by Ladi Nylander is also a liability to party victory in all its elections. The Convention Peoples party as it stands does not need any Nkrumahist from PNC, DFP, NDC, or NPP to join the party before we can restle power from the present government. A true Nkrumahist believes in selfless attitude, and respect the will of the people.Currently, about 95% Constituencies in Greater Accra Region cannot even conduct their elections due to inactiveness by the leaders and the lack of supervisory attitude. Not mentioning the Regional and the National Conference which have been postponed for several times. For the past ten years, the parties have been lacking the needed resources to campaign including the partys physical structures and non payment of dues from the cell level. A lot of people are crying for a true liberation that will ensure social and economic justice. The CPP must rise to restore the hope of hopeless come 2012.Ghanaians instead of benefiting from the natural and other resources of Ghana have become mere slaves serfs on the land of their birth. I am therefore highlighting the fact that: 1. To win 2012 election, the party needs new faces for the flagbearership and some National Executives to restructure and stir the affairs of the party. The party needs strategic plans and collective resources to move the party come 2012. 2. The party needs leader who understands the problems and ready to offer solutions to the cell ward and Constituency level. The party needs leaders who can promote the party and resourced the cell, ward and the constituency executives to be more pro-active and committed to their work before, during and after election. 3. The current Leadership of the party must also address the problem of disunity in the rank and file of the party.CPP needs peace within the National and the Flagbearership race and as such people to be the core pillar of the party in terms of financing, from the cell to the National level. I am therefore calling on all comrades and delegates to stand up for the party and demand no opposition after 2012. WE DEMAND A COPLETE CHANGE FROM FLAGBEARERSHIP AND NATIONAL EXECUTIVES,NOT IN THE NEAREST TIME,BUT WE WANT GHANGE NOW!,FOR VICTORY IN 2012!. Thank you.
