Cecilia Dapaah Comes from a Good Home . . . Having $1Million Is Not Shocking - Nana Fredua

Board Chairman of National Theatre, Nana Fredua Agyeman Ofori-Atta and member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has scolded critics questioning the source of Mrs. Cecilia Abena Dapaah's wealth after reports that her house helps had stolen 1 million dollars from her home.

Mrs. Cecilia Dapaah, who has resigned as Sanitation Minister due to this developing story, caused the arrest and prosecution of her domestic workers accused of stealing her money and other valuable items from her residence.

The theft, which occurred last year, came to the public domain days ago and people have raised questions on the legality and morality of a Minister stashing whopping sums of foreign and local currencies in her house.

The house helps allegedly stole $1 million, €300,000 and millions of cedis from her house.

"I am resigning therefore because I do not want this matter to become a preoccupation of government and a hindrance to the work of government at such a crucial time. I intend to cooperate fully with all state agencies to enable them fully establish the facts", the former Minister said in her resignation letter to the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The President, in response, has accepted the resignation and wished her well in her endeavors.

Discussing this issue on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' morning show, Nana Fredua stated emphatically that Mrs. Cecilia Dapaah is not a thief and doubted she acquired her 1 million dollars through dubious means.

He recounted his personal relationship with her and finds it surprisingly shocking that people would question her for having such huge money sitting in her home.

"She is a good person. She is not a thief. She doesn't steal," he stated.

According to him, Mrs. Cecilia Dapaah was well-to-do before her political career, hence she can own a million dollars.

He stressed; "She is from a good home...it wasn't politics that gave the things she has. When I met her, she had done a PR job at CMB and was independently working for herself together with her husband. Her husband is a well-respected architect globally, not only in Ghana."
