"We've Lost a Very Wonderful Hardworking Minister" - Nana Fredua Regrets Cecilia Dapah's Resignation

Nana Fredua says the resignation of Mrs. Cecilia Dapaah as Sanitation Minister is a big loss for Ghana.

Mrs. Cecilia Dapaah announced her resignation on Saturday, July 22 following a theft case involving her house helps who stole 1 million dollars, 300,000 Euros and millions of cedis belonging to her and her husband.

The former Minister is said to have kept the monies in her home when the house helps thieved it.

Mrs. Dapaah effected the arrest and prosecution of the house helps but she is faced with a backlash from the public after the news broke.

"I write to inform you that I wish to resign from my position as Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources...I am resigning therefore because I do not want this matter to become a preoccupation of government and a hindrance to the work of government at such a crucial time", she said in her letter to the President and pledged to "cooperate fully with all state agencies to enable them fully establish the facts".

She added; "I have no doubt whatsoever that at the end of the processes, it will be fully established that I have conducted myself with integrity during my period in public service and I will be fully exonerated from all the allegations that have filled the public domain in the past 24 hours."

Nana Fredua, touching on the matter during Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" show, strongly bemoaned Ghanaians turning the case against Mrs. Cecilia Dapaah.

"We've lost a very wonderful hardworking Minister," he stated.
