NPP National Council To Confirm Run-off Between Agyarko, Addai Nimoh...As Party Shoots Down Vote-buying Allegation

The General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has described as “extremely successful” the recently held Super Delegates conference.

After the elections, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia garnered 629 votes representing 68.15% of the valid votes cast. Kennedy Agyapong secured 132 of the Super Delegates' votes, representing 14.3% beating Alan Kyerematen to the second position. Alan Cash came third with 95 votes (10.29%). Dr Afriyie Akoto placed fourth with 36, a percentage of 3.9 of valid votes cast.

Francis Addai Nimoh and Boakye Agyarko Kyeremateng on the other hand garnered the same number of votes; 9.

Run-off

In view of this, the Election Committee of the party says there'll be a run-off to break the tie between the two candidates. This will determine who will take the 5th position; unless one or both candidates decide to opt out.

Speaking to this, Justin Frimpong Kodua said the decision of the Election Committee is in order.

However, on Wednesday, 30th August, 2023, the National Council of the party will hold an emergency meeting to confirm whether or not there’ll be a run-off.

Vote buying allegation

Justin Kodua has also reacted to allegations of vote-buying saying it should be disregarded.

He said looking at the pedigree of the executives and others like the Chief of Staff, it would be an "insult to accuse them of vote buying".

"Who can come and offer me money to influence my vote as the party's General Secretary? You won't dare..." he added.
