IGP Leaked Tape: You're A Danger to the Republic of Ghana - Atik Mohammed Blasts Bugri Naabu

Atik Mohammed has reprimanded Bugri Naabu, a former Northern Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), for secretly recording COP Alex Mensah and Supt. George Asare who had met him in his office to plot against the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.

The officers, who are said to have conspired to remove the IGP, found their voices on a secret tape leaked to the public.

They have been summoned before a Parliamentary Committee probing their allegations.

Reacting to the issue on a "Kokrokoo" panel discussion programme on Peace FM, Atik Mohammed questioned the logic in Bugri Naabu's recording of the officers.

To him, there is no way the NPP former Chairman knew what the officers wanted to discuss with him when they arranged the meeting, stating his "recording was malicious".

He noted that Bugri Naabu's intent for secretly taping the officers wasn't to help Ghana and described him a threat to the nation.

"I think it is about time we told ourselves the danger this guy is posing to this Republic . . . All these controversies come from him. He did the recording and he did it with malice. He didn't record because he wanted to help Ghana; he did it out of malice," he told host Nana Yaw Kesseh.
