A former deputy general secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho, says the opinion expressed by Prof. Kpessa-Whyte has not only vindicated him but also exposed those who attacked him and described him as a traitor.

Prof Michael Kpessa Whyte, a member of the NDC and a lecturer at the University of Ghana, has admitted that his party was unable to compile its results for the 2020 presidential elections.

Professor Michael Kpessa Whyte, who was one of three witnesses testifying at the Supreme Court in 2021 in support of the election petition filed by the NDC’s unsuccessful presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, expressed in a message congratulating the NDC’s newly appointed officials that it would be unrealistic for party members to attribute the NDC’s 2020 election loss solely to the EC’s actions or inactions.

Reacting to the opinion piece that has generated several reactions, Mr. Anyidoho, the founder and CEO of the Atta Mills Institute, said he was labelled a traitor, anti-Mahama, and anti-party when he expressed these same points.

Mr. Anyidoho told Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm host Kwabena Agyapong on Frontline, “I don’t blow my own trumpet, but glory be to God.” How many times have I not said these things? When you say these things, which are true representations of the facts, you are labelled a traitor, anti-party, or being paid by the NPP. “Vindication is in the womb of time.”

Prof. Kpessa Whyte, according to Koku Anyidoho, has now come out to tell party members that they should not be delusory and believe that the 2024 general elections will be handed to them on a silver platter.

He pointed out that although the lecturer has now come out, to tell the truth, ”for me, I will not pat him on the back. In fact, he was the first person to start this. Asiedu Nketiah was the first person to claim when he wanted Ofosu Ampofo’s position that they went to the Supreme Court in 2020 without any shred of evidence”.

”When the party lost the election, they embarked on this to deceive and calm the members of the party, and in the process of all this, people died. So the question to former President John Dramani Mahama, Asiedu Nketiah, and Kpessa Whyte is, Was the deceiving of party members worth it?”

”They knew the truth. John Mahama knew the truth; he knew the NDC did not compile the results in 2020. Asiedu Nketiah was aware that the NDC had failed to collect the results. Today, Kpessa Whyte is also speaking the truth. I decided not to speak about the 2020 election, but because Kpessa Whyte has revealed it, I’d like to say that I was a local observer from the Atta Mills Institute. We applied as local observers and were granted that status.

So, based on that criteria, I went to the EC’s strongroom to observe the process, and when I arrived, Kpessa Whyte and Rojo Mettle Nunoo had left their posts. I had no idea the two of them were NDC representatives at first, so the others there mistook me for the NDC rep and I had to tell them I was there as an observer. At this point, I was informed that the NDC representatives had left the room and had not returned.”

”The NPP reps were busy behind their desks and working, and they were the ones who told me the two NDC reps left the place in the evening and did not return in the morning,” he added. So, according to Kpessa Whyte, no collated results were sent to them to protect. The EC strongroom exists to protect the collated results that are delivered to them, and Kpessa Whyte is claiming that no collated results were delivered to them from anywhere. So, how did you end up at the Supreme Court, accusing Jean Mensa of rigging? ”This is where we are as a party, so when you speak the truth, you are labelled anti-JM.”
