The management of Media Excel, an event management outfit in Accra, has announced that come June 25 this year, the company would stage a choral musical concert at the National Theatre in Accra to celebrate the 90th birthday of Professor Kwabena Nketia. The musical concert, which is expected to attract a large number of music fans across the country, will feature choral groups which include the Winneba Youth Choir, University of Cape Coast Choir, Tema Youth Choir, the National Symphony Orchestra, the National Dance Ensemble, with support from DSP Kofi Sarpong, Bernice Offei and Prof. Nketia�s personal choice, Kwabena Kwabena. According to the CEO of Media Excel Productions, Ernest Kwesi Ennin, the idea for this concert was to celebrate the success story of Professor Nketia and raise funds to assist some needy institutions in the country, as well as launch Professor Nketia�s foundation. Professor Kwabena Nketia is a renowned Africanist, teacher, ethro-musicologist, composer and poet and a former director of the Institute of African Studies of the University of Ghana and International Centre for African Music and Drama (ICAMD), Ghana.
