Cecilia Dapaah Is Not The Reason For My Song - Wendy Shay On ‘Africa Money’

Ghanaian Afro-Pop and Afrobeat singer, Wendy Shay, born Wendy Addo has debunked claims that she jabbed Madam Cecilia Dapaah in her recently released album "Africa Money"

Portions of the song read: "Our money na everyone dey chop oh nyafu nyafu.
President dey chop oh nyafu nyafu. Governor dey chop oh nyafu nyafu.
African money na everyone dey chop oh nyafu nyafu.
Me ma ye dwuma Kora nanso onni sika (my mum works but she has no money)
Aunty Cece nso da pahn, osore a sika nkoa (Aunty Cece sleeps al ot, when she wakes up, it is just money)”.

Some pundits have suggested that this portion of the song is in reference to the US$1 million, €300,000, and millions of Ghana Cedis found in the house of the former Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah's residence.

However, Miss Shay claims the song was not directed at Madam Cecilia Dapaah.

"It's just someone's name; it's just storytelling. I'm trying to compare two women; one works hard but still has no money; the other sleeps and yet makes money. It's songwriting and I wanted it to rhyme. I'm just trying to convey a message that life is not fair" said during a discussion on UTV's United Showbiz programme.
