Stolen Cash: New Judge To Take Over Special Prosecutor and Cecilia Dapaah's Case

The Chief Justice, Gertrude Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo, is expected to assign a new judge to preside over the case in which the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) is seeking a confirmation order for the seizure and freeze of the financial assets of Cecilia Abena Dapaah.

The latest development has become necessary as the substantive Judge, Justice Edward Twum of the Financial Court Division of the High Court in Accra, is set to proceed on leave.

The OSP dragged Cecilia Dapaah and her husband, Daniel Osei, to court for a confirmation order to seize their assets. Although the OSP later petitioned the Chief Justice, asking for the recusal of Justice Edward Twum, the request was declined on October 25, 2023.

When the case was called on Wednesday, November 8, both parties had a brief engagement with the Judge in his chambers.

After the meeting the case was adjourned to November 29, 2023.
