Let's Unite And Rally Behind Bawumia To Retain Power - Mireku Duker To NPP

Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, George Mireku Duker has advised the rank and file of the governing New Patriotic Party to iron out their differences as the party gears up for next year's election.

The campaigns prior to the New Patriotic Party's presidential election held on Saturday, November 4, were characterized by some allegations against opposing candidates in the race.

Assin Central lawmaker, Kennedy Agyapong in particular, alleged in a series of his campaigns that the Vice President of the Republic and now flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party had offered him $800 million to quit the election.

He also accused the Veep of distributing pickup vehicles to party delegates to woo them to vote for him.

Despite these acrimonious disputes, the ruling party successfully ended its election, however, one of the hardest tasks for the party now is how to galvanize itself and the grassroots to support their new flagbearer.

Speaking on Peace FM's Thursday edition of "Kokrokoo" show, George Mireku Duker appealed to the party faithful to place their differences aside and back Dr. Bawumia to win the 2024 elections.

"I will plead that we unite as a party and rally behind Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to ensure we retain power," he told host Kwami Sefa Kayi.

The Deputy Minister also commended Kennedy Agyapong for accepting defeat and giving what he termed a "mature" speech on Saturday at the Accra Sports Stadium where Dr. Bawumia was officially declared the NPP presidential candidate.
