The government in its 2024 budget announced an amount of 220 million Ghana cedis for flood victims in the country. I add my voice to the numerous voices congratulating the government for such a gesture in recognition of the challenges and suffering of the affected areas and people.

I wish to appeal to the government and the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) to as a matter of urgency, come to the aid of flood victims of Kpandai.

On a recent visit to the Lonto and Kpadjai Electoral Areas, I was shocked to realize that the main road leading to these areas had been cut off with much of the road taken over by water to the extent that we had to be carried by canoes twice to access these Electoral Areas that are barely two miles apart.

Areas such as Adakope, Kpadjai No. 2, Tanklenku, Sikakura No.1 and Sikakura No.2 among many others have been flooded and cut off from the rest of the District. (See pictures and videos attached)

Upon appeals from the chiefs and people of these areas, I donated 20 bags of 25kg of rice, 5 boxes of mackerel, 4 boxes of tin tomatoes, one 50kg bag of sugar, 5 boxes of cooking oil and two 50kg bags of beans (see pictures and videos) as my widows might to ameliorate their suffering on Tuesday 28th November.

However, my widows might is woefully inadequate as hundreds of homes and several hundreds of victims have been rendered homeless (attached is data on victims) and destitute by the ravages of the floods.

I pray the government will come to our aid to ease our suffering through NADMO now that a budgetary provision has been made to ease our pain.
