Ga King Makers Condemn Installation Of New Chief

The Royal Nikoi Olai Stool of the Asere Division of the Ga State on Wednesday said crowning a Ga Mantse with Adowa Fai was the sole prerogative of the Asere Stool. A statement issued by the Royal Nikoi Olai Stool Family and the Asere Mantse Nii Nikoi Olai Amashie III in Accra said the enstoolment of a Ga Mantse was and could only be complete with the Adowa Fai by the substantive Asere Mantse or his representative. The purported crowning of the new Ga Mantse with the Adowa Fai was not done by the substantive Asere Mantse, Nii Nikoi Olai Amashie III, or by any accredited representative of the Asere Stool. Nii Amarkai III who describes himself as the Asere Djaasetse and Acting Asere Mantse is not the Asere Mantse neither does he hails from the Nikoi Olai Stool. The said Nii Amarkai III is the Djaasetse of only the Akotia Owosika Stool one of the ruling houses of the Asere Division. In a related develpment, the elders of the Asene Dzaase, principal king makers in the Ga State have dissociated themselves from the nomination and installation of Nii Tackie Adama Latse II. One of the elders, Amarkai Amarteifio at a press conference in Accra accused the Dzaasetse, Nii Amarkai III of arbitrarily sanctioning the installation of the new king. The Dzaasetse at the outdooring ceremony of the new king proclaimed Nii Adama Latse II as the rightful heir to the Ga throne. Amarkai Amarteifio told press men even though he (Nii Amarkai III) is the legitimate acting head of the Asene family, his action was reprehensible. The role that Nii Amarkai III played over the weekend was not sanctioned by the Dzaase of Asene. It was not authorized; it was not mandated. It was premature and has the potential of preempting matters pending the judicial body. It has the potential of undermining the process of adjudication to determine who is Ga Mantse. The Dzaase of Asene cannot sit down and accept this, he added.
