KAIPTC to host 3rd Kofi Annan Peace and Security (KAPS) Forum

The Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), in collaboration with the Governments of Norway and Germany(implemented by GIZ) has launched the third edition of the Kofi Annan Peace and Security Forum (KAPS Forum) in Accra.

Africa’s democracy and governance developments will be under scrutiny from February 27-28, 2024, when leaders from the continent and beyond gather at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Centre (KAIPTC) in Accra for the third Kofi Annan Peace and Security Forum (KAPS Forum).

The Kofi Annan Peace and Security Forum (KAPS Forum) will be on the theme: "Migration and Societal Resilience in a Multipolar World Order: Addressing Conflicts and Building Peace in Africa".

The forum will provide a platform for delegates and participants to explore approaches to addressing migration-related conflicts through effective policies and peace building mechanisms in the region.

The annual event provides the platform for political leaders, diplomats, scholars and experts to dialogue and take stock of the state of democracy and governance, while addressing contemporary peace and security issues on the African continent. The KAPS Forum is funded by the Government of Norway, the Federal Government of Germany, and the Swedish Government.

This highly anticipated event brings prominent figures, together including HE. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of Ghana, and H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ibn Chambas, the African Union High Representative for Silencing the Guns, to tackle the burning issue of migration and its impact on societal resilience in Africa.

Speaking at the launch of the forum, Commandant of the Kofi Anan International Peace Keeping Training Center, Major General, Richard Addo Gyane explained that KAIPTC is set to ignite critical discussions on migration at the third KAPS Forum. Over the years, KAIPTC, through its numerous courses on peace, security and governance, has become a pillar for peace, security and governance in Africa.

The Deputy head of delegation at the German Embassy, H.E Sivine Jansen noted that the forum seeks to address complex link between migration and security hence German Government’s commitment.
