The Director of Commmuications for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, has described the President, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, as someone who will go down as a great leader for his patience to make the right decisions. 

Commenting on the ongoing impass on the passage of the Anti-LGBTQ+bill, Richard Ahiagbah mentioned that, it is important to find a balance to maintain cohesion in society as far as the passage of the anti-LGBTQ+bill is concerned. 

The director of communications of the NPP wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) page, "finding the delicate balance to maintian cohesion in society, especially on a fundamental issue such as the anti-LGBTQ+ Bill, is an art that distinguishes great leaders from ordinary ones. H.E Akufo-Addo will go down as a great leader who hastened slowly to get it right once". 

The Parliament of Ghana passed the Anti-LGBTQ+ bill after going through series of amendments for three years. The passage of the bill has raised mixed feelings amongst the general public.

Meanwhile, the President is yet to receive a draft of the bill which he is expected to sign, however, the President, through Eugene Arhin, the director of commmunications at the Presidency, has stated that, the President will wait for the decision of the supreme court before he decides on what to do with the bill.

In the press release, extracts of the presser reads, "I think it will serve little purpose to go, at this stage, into the details of the origin of this proposed law, which is yet to reach my desk. But suffice it to say, that I have learnt that, today, a challenge has been mounted at the Supreme Court by a concerned citizen to the constitutionality of the proposed legislation."

Richard Ahiagbah, however, underscored the need to exercise restraint as the President makes an informed decision which will promote a balanced cohesion in Ghana.
