Vice President Campaigns For Mills

President John Atta Mills and his Vice, John Dramani Mahama, seem to have abandoned the Castle as they criss-cross the country to canvass for votes in the NDCs upcoming presidential primaries scheduled to be staged in Sunyani. Vice President Mahama yesterday stormed the Brong Ahafo Region and held a marathon meeting with delegates from the region, including Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs), at the Regional Ministers official residence. Daily Guide's sources within the meeting hinted that the vice president told the delegates to forget about the presidential bid of the wife of the partys founder, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, who had earlier visited the region. According to the sources, Mr. Mahama entreated delegates in the region to show their support to his boss by voting massively for him to lead the NDC to its second term in government. Unlike Nana Konadus visit which was marked by some constraints in meeting the delegates, following a grand scheme hatched by some gurus of the party to thwart her campaign efforts in the region, the vice president had it all smooth as all the 22 MDCEs, 24 constituency chairmen and their executives, among other groups, came out to meet him at the regional ministers residence. Daily Guide further learnt that the Mills campaign team had tasked the vice president to visit the Brong Ahafo Region as well as the three northern regions to solicit votes for President Mills in the July 8-9 congress. Daily Guide gathered that the vice president, who has some links with the people of Brong Ahafo as his wife comes from the region, will capitalize on that linkage and also use his northern extraction to win more votes for President Mills from these four regions. He is expected to leave Sunyani today for the Northern Region to pursue his bosss political agenda.
