Abuga Pele: Multiple Registered Beneficiaries Of NYEP Monies Must Refund Or

National Coordinator of the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP), Mr. Abuga Pele, has issued a stern warning to all multiple registered beneficiaries of the programme who received double or triple allowances, to refund the money or face the consequences thereof. This follows investigations into allegations of double registration, duplication and wrong computation of personal information and account numbers into the database of the programme. Speaking in an interview on Radio Gold, Mr. Pele attributed the error to a fault in an earlier software which was used for the registration of members. As a result, he said, people took advantage of the error and abused the system by registering with different names. We realized that the database software which was initially installed contributed to the problem. It contributed greatly to the delay in the payment of allowances to other beneficiaries of the programme. This is because we realized that other people were receiving double or triple allowances and to stop this, we had to change the software and take off all those people from the pay-roll of NYEP, he said. He added that a task force has been set up to conduct further investigations into the incident and fish out all those involved aside those who had already found themselves at the wrong side of the law. He gave the assurance that with this new software, all ghost names will be expunged from the system. When asked what his outfit intends doing regarding illegal beneficiaries of monies received so far, Mr. Abuga Pele said: those involved will have to refund the money they have received for all those months; failure to do so, they will face the consequences.
