Veep Leads GAME Campaign

THE CAMPAIGN team of Get Atta Mills Endorsed (GAME) has embarked on a regional tour of the three northern regions in what it has described as a mop up exercise ahead of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) congress slated for the weekend at Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo region. Vice president John Dramani Mahamah, who is leading the team, met with delegates in the Upper West and Northern regions to garner votes for his boss. Sources close to Daily Guide disclosed that the vice president, in closed door meetings, reiterated the need for delegates to maintain the sitting president. According to sources, it was only if Mills remained flag-bearer that the party stood a chance of winning the 2012 elections so it could continue the numerous developmental projects. He commended the over 300 delegates including DCEs from the 20 districts in the Northern region, for their support, appealing to them to serve as ambassadors of the GAME crusade. Vice President Mahama will proceed to the Upper East region on Tuesday to interact with delegates from all the constituencies in the region and later return to Accra, where he will prepare for the congress. Prior to his visit to the North, Haruna Iddrisu, Communications Minister and ranking member of GAME, was in the region to interact with supporters of the party. He told Daily Guide the visit of the vice president was just to thank the people of the three regions for their tremendous support for the party and candidature of the president. The minister described the support given to the team as overwhelming and expressed optimism that the president would garner all votes from the three regions of the north. Mr. Iddrisu said the firm assurances from the delegates was a clear manifestation that Mills would ride high above his close contender over the weekend and go ahead to win the 2012 elections on the NDC ticket. Commenting on the vice presidents visit, Mr. Iddrisu explained that his visit was purposely to educate party followers on the many policies of government, including SADA, and the need to support GAME for more of such interventions. He mentioned among other things, the aim of the president to make the northern sector a major agricultural producing sector of the country. According to him, the vice president also used the opportunity to respond to concerns raised by delegates and emphasized the need for them to vote massively for the president. It is a straight forward victory for the president and Saturday will speak for itself, he remarked. The communication minister, who has been at the frontline of activities to ensure President Mills wins overwhelmingly in the region, promised to champion activities to redeem the Northern region for him.
