Nana Konadu: No Retreat, No Surrender...I'm Going To Win The Race In Sunyani

Just days to go for the much anticipated NDC Congress to be held in the Brong Ahafo regional capital, Sunyani, the main challenger to President Mills has launched a scathing attack on her opponent. At a Press Conference held at Alisa Hotel, Accra on Wednesday July 6, former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings stated that growing divisions in the ruling NDC party has compelled her to contest President Mills for the flagbearership slot. According to her, party structures have been neglected by the leadership of the party. She added that the governing NDC is in leadership crisis which must be resolved at the Sunyani congress. Mrs Rawlings maintained that the current NDC leadership has lost touch with the grassroots which has created despondency among party faithfuls. "My decision to contest arose against a backdrop of growing division, apathy and despondency among our party faithful. Under the current leadership, our party has been divided into factions that never exist before and, this, is killing the spirit of the NDC". Sounding very confident, she stated that she was the only person capable of restoring confidence and trust in public office holders if elected as the flag bearer of the NDC. She added that electing her as the flag bearer of the party would set the NDC on the path to victory in 2012. I am confident that I am going to win the race in Suyani, I am restating this to the delegates: that once I am given the mandate in Suyani, I will win 2012 in the first round one touch!, she said amidst showering of appellations and cheer words like no retreat, no surrender from the handful supporters at the press conference.
